Sadiq Majeed Image finds place in Wisden and at Lord’s

Sadiq Majeed, like any other youngster, had a dream of playing cricket for India. However, he went into the photography field.

The young Kashmiri photographer Sadiq Majeed was on cloud Nine when his one of the latest photographs has found a place in the latest edition of Wisden (released to-day), and will also be displayed at the Lord’s.

Speaking exclusively over his mobile from Srinagar, he said, “I am extremely delighted and feel very elated on winning the first prize of £2,000 from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC)”.

“When this photo caught good attention and earned fame I feel that my wishes were turning into reality. Finding this photo to be in Wisden, the Bible of Cricket with Virat Kohli on its cover page I am over-joyed that it would also be displayed at the new Warner Stand at Lord’s, where visitors will view all year round”.

Sadiq Majeed“After covering bloody summer agitation in Kashmir, both my heart and mind was searching for as click which would soothe the aggravated minds. Wandering through gardens, and watching huge Chinar trees turning into a magical shades of sunset, is my favorite activity”.

“To satisfy my soul, I took journey to Nishat Garden, one of the famous Mughal Gardens of Kashmir. I was walking and tramping the crisp autumnal leaves, the rustling noise sets up opera, that is enough to bring peace to heart and mind”.

“As I was walking, I saw a group of boys playing cricket under Chinar trees. Wow, I said to myself. It was like tulips tossing heads in the fire pool. The scene is still in my mind. I took the best possible location, 35 feet above the field where the boys were playing”, he added.

“To me this image has a lot of stories. It is not just a glorified picture of cricket or colours in autumn but is a sign on “life” when everything is already smuggling death”, the photographer, also an Engineer by profession signed off.
