ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025 Preview: Format, Schedule, Venue, Squads

The upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Regional Final is an official qualifier tournament that forms the crux of the qualification procedure for the next year’s T20 World Cup in 2026. 

Before the commencement of the contest, all five teams will get an opportunity to play two warm-up matches each from July 01st to 03rd. 

This 5-team regional final tournament, including the hosting nation Netherlands as well will compete for the top two spots to gain an entry into the 10th edition of the T20 World Cup. 

In other words, the tournament commencing from July 05 will promote the top two teams to join alongside Ireland and England in the T20 World Cup 2026.

It is to be noted that England earned direct qualification by finishing among the top eight teams in the last edition of the 20-over World Cup. Whereas, Ireland secured a spot through the ICC Men’s T20I rankings (currently ranked at 11th position). 

Recently, Canada gained entry into the marquee tournament by winning the American Qualifier held between June 15th to 22nd. 

Before finding out the format, schedule, venue, and squads, let’s delve deeper to understand the mode of qualification that allowed these five teams to take part in the regional final. 

5 Participating Teams and Mode of Qualification 

The following are the five different teams participating in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025 : 

1. Jersey
2. Scotland
3. Netherlands
4. Italy
5. Guernsey

Overall, 30 teams took part in three different tournaments of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe, namely the Qualifier A, Qualifier B, and Qualifier C. 

Each event of the European sub-regional phase comprised ten teams that were divided into two groups, consisting of five teams each. 

The winners of every sub-regional qualifier in the current cycle joined Scotland and the Netherlands, both of which gained direct qualification after participating in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024: 

Format of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025

The 20-over qualifier tournament for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in a single round-robin format, where five teams will compete against each other only once. The contest will be held in a double-header mode, and a total of 10 matches will be played across five days. 

For every win, 2 points will be granted, and the teams that conclude in the top two positions in the points table (based on higher points and Net Run Rate) will directly qualify for the main ICC event.

Two different venues are assigned to host the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025, one for the warm-up matches and the other for the regional final: 

1. Utrecht: Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd (For Warm-Up Matches) 
2. The Hague: Sportpark Westvliet (For Europe Qualifier)
