Here are the six young standout performers from the ongoing 18th season of the league who are on the verge of making their international debut to represent Team India.

1. Ashwani Kumar (Mumbai Indians): Pace Bowler 

Ashwani Kumar made a stunning IPL debut for Mumbai Indians, whose match-winning performance dismantled Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) batting line-up. He bowled three overs and bagged crucial wickets of KKR’s four key batters, namely Ajinkya Rahane (11 runs), Rinku Singh (17 runs), Manish Pandey (19 runs), and Andre Russell (5 runs).

The 23-year-old scripted a new record at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday (March 31) by becoming the first Indian bowler to claim a 4-wicket haul on his IPL debut match, which makes him an eligible contender for the national call-up soon.

2. Ashutosh Sharma (Delhi Capitals): All-Rounder

Ashutosh Sharma exhibited his hard-hitting abilities for Delhi Capitals with a dazzling 31-ball-66-run knock (including 5 fours and 5 sixes) at 212.90 strike rate against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He came to bat when DC was reeling at 65/5, and displayed a great maturity by integrating a mix of composure and aggression in his batting style. 

The 26-year-old accelerated his team’s innings by maintaining a 48-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs and a 55-run stand with Vipraj Nigam. With 6 runs required off the last over, the right-handed batter played the best finisher’s role by smashing a six straight back down the ground. 

Ashutosh’s second IPL fifty guided DC to a thrilling 1-wicket win with 3 balls to spare, and his calculated aggression under pressure makes him a perfect contender to add fuel to India’s middle order unit. 

3. Priyansh Arya (Punjab Kings): Left-Handed Batter 

Priyansh Arya was signed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for INR 3.8 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction to bolster the opening combination with his aggressive batting style. 

The 24-year-old grabbed the headlines section after hammering six sixes in an over in the Delhi T20 League 2024. He unleashed his inner version of the former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and became the latest entrant among the list of talented cricketers who achieved this rare and impressive feat. 

The left-handed batter’s IPL debut for PBKS would be one of the most memorable moments of his career. Priyansh, as an opener, played an explosive knock of 47 runs out of just 23 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT), which laid a foundation for his team to post a mammoth total of 243/5 in 20 overs. 

4. Aniket Verma (Sunrisers Hyderabad): Right-Handed Batter 

Aniket Verma grabbed the spotlight in the Madhya Pradesh T20 League 2024, where he concluded as the tournament’s leading run scorer, accumulating 273 runs in 6 games for Bhopal Leopards. He made his IPL debut this season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 23 (Sunday). 

The 23-year-old came to bat when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were struggling at 25/3 in 2.3 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday (March 30). Aniket’s blistering knock of 74 runs out of 41 balls (including 5 fours and 6 sixes) helped his team recover from a shaky start and post a competitive total of 163 in 18.4 overs. 

Before his maiden IPL half-century, the right-handed batter scored a lightning speed knock of 36 runs out of just 13 balls (including 5 sixes) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 27 (Thursday). 

With India searching for an explosive finishing batter, Aniket could be one of the most exciting batting prospects.  

5. Zeeshan Ansari (Sunrisers Hyderabad): Spin Bowler 

Zeeshan Ansari’s dream to make an IPL debut came true when he played a crucial role for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with his impressive bowling figures of 3/42 in 4 overs against Delhi Capitals at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on March 31 (Sunday). 

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the 25-year-old exhibited a stunning performance in his first game itself, claiming the wickets of DC’s dominant batters, namely Jake Fraser-McGurk (38 runs), Faf du Plessis (50 runs), and KL Rahul (15 runs). 

Although Sunrisers lost the game by 7 wickets, Zeeshan’s outstanding debut promises him to play a big role for his team in the ongoing season and is not too many years away from donning Team India’s jersey. 

6. Vignesh Puthur (Mumbai Indians): All-rounder 

Vignesh Puthur has been an exceptional spin bowling all-rounder who has taken the cricketing world by storm with his sensational debut for Mumbai Indians on March 23. The left-arm wrist spinner bowled his quota of 4 overs and recorded a staggering bowling figure of 3/32 in his first game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which includes the wickets of these core batters, namely Ruturaj Gaikwad (53 runs), Shivam Dube (9 runs), and Deepak Hooda (3 runs). 

His variations on the batting friendly surfaces pose tough challenges to the in-form bowlers, which makes him one of the most notable talents of the season.
