6 Potential Replacements of Harry Brook for DC in IPL 2025 You Need to Know!

England’s young batter Harry Brook has pulled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Although the exact reason hasn’t been revealed, the English cricketer cited that he wants to prioritize international cricket and keep aside franchise leagues.

The 26-year-old was acquired for INR 6.25 crore during the mega auction. His unexpected exit left a huge void in the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) squad ahead of the tournament’s 18th season and the management is under pressure to find a perfect replacement.

With an overseas slot vacant for DC, let’s take a look at the six talented players who can replace Brook in IPL 2025.

1. David Warner:

Former Australian opening batter David Warner’s two stints at DC (from 2009 to 2013 and the recent one from 2022 to 2024), make him the eligible contender to replace Harry Brook in the forthcoming season.

Having retired from all formats of international cricket and not retained by the franchise, Warner went unsold during the mega auction as none of the franchises showed interest in acquiring him.

However, DC might once again show interest in inviting the 38-year-old back to their squad, who ranks as the fourth-highest run scorer in IPL history (6,565 runs in 184 innings). If such happens, David will have to either play for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 or for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, as these two franchise T20 leagues take place simultaneously.

2. Daryl Mitchell:

New Zealand’s all-rounder Daryl Mitchell appears to be a prime contender to replace Harry Brook, given his consistency and flexibility to bat at any position in the batting order.

The 33-year-old was brilliant with his batting form in T20Is in 2024, accumulating 274 runs in 9 innings at an average of 39.14 and strike rate of 158.38. Also, he contributed a decent performance for CSK in the previous season scoring 318 runs in 13 innings.

In addition, Darly can contribute well as a medium pacer, which further bolsters the bowling unit as well.

3. Dewald Brevis:

Dewald Brevis is one such power-hitting South African batter, who has shown remarkable consistency representing MI Cape Town in SA20 2025. He concluded the season as the sixth leading run-scorer.

The below-listed stats prove Brevis can be an ideal replacement for Harry Brook given that he accumulated huge runs in the third season of SA20 despite batting at different positions in varied situations:

  • Matches: 12
  • Runs: 291
  • Innings: 10
  • Average: 48.50
  • Strike Rate: 184.18
  • Highest Score: *73
  • Fours: 17
  • Sixes: 25

4. Gulbadin Naib:

Afghanistan’s batting all-rounder Gulbadin Naib can be considered as Brook’s replacement for his power-hitting abilities. In addition, he adds fuel to the pace bowling attack as a medium pacer.

The 33-year-old’s all-round efforts helped Dubai Capitals clinch its maiden title in ILT20 2025 and these are his notable contribution in the third season of the tournament:

  • 381 runs in 12 innings (Average: 42.33, Strike Rate: 158.75, Fifties: 4, Best Score: 80)
  • 11 wickets in 12 matches (Average: 18.45, Strike Rate: 12.63, Economy: 8.76, Best Bowling Figures: 3/13)

5. Michael Bracewell:

New Zealand’s all-rounder Michael Bracewell was one of the key contributors for his team in Champions Trophy 2025. Especially, the left-handed batter scored a quickfire 53 (not out) in the final against India. Being a handy off-spinner, Bracewell bagged 8 wickets in 5 matches in the ninth edition of the tournament, at an average of 25.12 and economy of 4.10, including his best bowling figures of 4/26.

The 34-year-old’s ability to perform well in high-pressure situations adds a new dimension to DC’s squad thereby making him a perfect option to replace Brook.

6. Ben Duckett:

Left-handed batter Ben Duckett appears to be the front-runner to replace Harry Brook. He has been in peak form across all formats and has been England’s core part of the batting line-up.

Also, he was the third-highest run-getter in the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025, scoring 227 runs in just 3 innings. If Duckett is selected, there are chances for him to replicate his form of CT 2025 in IPL.
