Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 Review: Detailed Stats, Award Winners, and Prize Money You Need to Know!

Hobart Hurricanes after failing twice in the Big Bash League’s (BBL) final of the 2013–14 and 2017–18 seasons, found a strategy to succeed in their third attempt as they chased down a target of 183 runs in 14.1 overs against David Warner’s led Sydney Thunder. Thanks to the young Aussie opener Mitchell Owen, who unleashed his beast mode to propel his team to a 7-wicket victory in the BBL 2024-25 final at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on January 27 (Monday).

Owen’s uncompromised aggressive approach empowered him to accumulate 108 runs from just 42 balls (including 6 fours and 11 sixes) at a strike rate of 257.14. Interestingly, his 39-ball-hundred is the joint-fastest ton in the BBL’s history leveling the 11-year-old record of Craig Simmons.

Also, this was Warner’s first stint as the Thunder’s captain after his leadership ban was waived.  Unfortunately, the former Aussie cricketer slipped one step short of leading his team to the second championship title.

As the 14th edition of the BBL wraps up on an interesting note, it would be intriguing to explore the award winners, prize money, and several noteworthy stats from the tournament.
