Nat Sciver-Brunt Becomes First Batter to Score 1000 WPL Runs! Breaks Ellyse Perry’s Big Records!

WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians star all-rounder Natalie Sciver Brunt scripted history in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on March 15 (Saturday). The English cricketer became the inaugural batter to notch up 1,000-plus WPL runs and continued with her red-hot form in the league’s third season. 

Nat Sciver became the very first player to accumulate above 500 runs in a single WPL season, thereby shattering multiple records of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) all-rounder Ellyse Perry to rank at the leading spot in terms of statistical performances. 

The 32-year-old’s 30 runs out of 28 balls (including 4 fours) assisted to stitch an 89-run crucial partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, that helped MI recover from an early collapse. 

As Mumbai achieved its second WPL title with an 8-run victory over Delhi in the finals, Brunt was honored with the “Most Valuable Player of the Tournament” award for her incredible performances and record-breaking achievements this season.

How did Nat Sciver Achieve 1000 WPL Runs? 

Ahead of the WPL 2025 final, Nat Sciver required just 3 runs (997 runs) to cross the 1000-run mark. Also, she was just 7 runs behind (493 runs) to score 500-plus runs in a single season. 

Most importantly, Brunt’s blistering 77 run-knock out of 41 balls (including 10 fours and 2 sixes) in the Eliminator round against Gujarat Giants (GG) helped her inch closer to attaining back-to-back rare feats.

• 1000 WPL Runs: Nat arrived at the crease after Hayley Matthews’s dismissal at the end of the third over. The orange cap holder of the 2025 edition scored three runs in the fourth over bowled by Shikha Pandey. In the last ball of the same over, Brunt managed to grab double runs and emerged as the first player in the WPL history to score 1,000 runs.
• 500 Runs in a single WPL season: In the last ball of the eighth over bowled by Jess Jonassen, Sciver-Brunt played a hard sweep shot behind square, but she managed to grab a single as the fielder in the deep grabbed the ball accurately. As a result, Nat became the only batter to score to attain the 500-run mark in a single WPL season.
