Fans poked fun at the league and franchise for awarding such a bizarre prize to a match winner like James Vince, whose maiden PSL century guided Karachi Kings to chase down a mammoth target of 235 against Multan Sultans

In addition, the English batter stitched a dynamic partnership of 142 runs from 68 balls with Khushdil Shah that set the foundation for a sensational victory.

Although Vince wasn’t able to finish the game due to his unexpected run-out dismissal in the final ball of the 18th over, his quickfire ton helped Karachi stay ahead in the chase. Ultimately, David Warner’s led team scored 236/6 in the last over with four balls to spare.

Moreover, James reached a triple-figure mark in just 42 balls, which was the third-fastest century in PSL history, ranking behind Usman Khan and Rilee Rossouw, who achieved this remarkable feat in 36 and 41 balls, respectively.

IPL vs PSL 2025 Player of the Match Prize Money Comparison

It would be surprising to know that the Player of the Match (POTM) award winner in the Pakistan Super League 2025 gets a higher prize than the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Here is a brief comparison of the POTM’s prize money in the two ongoing leagues (provided in terms of INR, PKR, and USD):

IPL 2025PSL 2025
INR 1,00,000 (PKR 3,26,120/ 1167 USD approximately)PKR 500,000 (INR 1,53,317 / 1780 USD approximately)

IPL stands tall for awarding lucrative prize money to the top four teams and the best performers at the end of every season. But, it is PSL that remains one step ahead by paying higher cash for the ‘Man of the Match’ award winners. So, it becomes clear that the POTM award winners in PSL get one and a half lakh rupees more than IPL.

Final Opinion

The sponsor-driven awards have become common in the modern era of T20 leagues, particularly in South Asia. However, the unexpected choice of presenting a grooming appliance to a talented international cricketer whose heroic efforts to register one of the finest knocks in the league’s history sparked an explosion of funny and sarcastic comments on social mediaOverall, fans believe that James Vince should have been honored with a medal or trophy rather than an electrical appliance for his memorable knock that guided his team to the third-highest successful run chase in PSL history.
