Afghanistan’s cricket board has confidently named Rashid Khan as the captain of a seasoned 15-man squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. This announcement reflects a strategic focus on experience, as highlighted by the involvement of eight squad members in the prestigious Indian Premier League.

Despite featuring only four specialist batters — Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Najibullah Zadran, and Mohammad Ishaq as the back-up keeper — the Afghanistan team boasts a strong contingent of six all-rounders. This diverse group includes Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, and Nangeyalia Kharote, providing the squad with a multifaceted skill set capable of adapting to various match situations.
