SA20 2025 Preview: Schedule, Teams Squads and Live Streaming Details You Need to Know!

The countdown has commenced for the Betway SA20 2025 —the third season of the South African Twenty20 franchise cricket league featuring 34 matches, including the knockouts that will be held across six different venues in South Africa. 

Having won back-to-back trophies in 2023 and 2024, the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape are set to claim a hattrick of SA20 championship titles under Aiden Markram’s captaincy by kickstarting their campaign against MI Cape Town in the season opener on January 09 (Thursday).

Six different teams compete with each other twice in the tournament’s league stages, following a double round-robin format. Out of which, the top four in the points table will qualify for the playoffs by adopting an intriguing format: 

• Qualifier 1: (1st) vs (2nd) ranked teams
• Eliminator: (3rd) vs (4th) ranked teams
• Qualifier 2: (Winner of ELIMINATOR Stage) vs (Loser of QUALIFIER 1 Stage)
• Final: (Winner of QUALIFIER 1 Stage) vs (Winner of QUALIFIER 2 Stage) 

The top two teams will clash with each other in Qualifier 1 and the winner will earn a direct entry to the grand final scheduled for February 08 (Saturday) at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. 

Amazingly, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik joins Paarl Royals, becoming the first and only Indian cricketer to participate in SA20 since its inaugural season in 2023, marking a historical development in the overseas T20 sporting scene.
