Who is Andrew Brownlee? 62-Year-Old Becomes The Oldest Cricketer to Make International Debut in Men’s Cricket!
On March 10 (Monday), Andrew Brownlee created history by becoming the oldest cricketer to mark an international debut. The 62-year-old debutant made his first international appearance for the Falkland Islands in a T20 International (T20I) match against Costa Rica at Los Reyes Polo Club in Guacima.
Interestingly, Brownlee became the oldest debutant cricketer in men’s international cricket history, thereby surpassing the previous record held by Osman Goker, who made his maiden international appearance for Turkey against Romania at 59 in a T20I match in August 2019.
Brownlee has played only 3 T20Is, as he started his international career in the recently concluded Falkland Islands tour of Costa Rica in March 2025. Although his team faced a whitewashing loss in the 6-match T20I series, Andrew rose to fame by becoming the first and only cricketer to achieve the rare feat of playing cricket in the 60s.
